THE OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP - MASTERCARD

The Open is golf’s oldest championship.

And one of the most prestigious.

More than 200,000 fans attend each year, with millions more watching around the world.

Our job was to bring Mastercard’s partnership to life around the tournament.

That meant activating the championship across Carnoustie in Scotland and Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland—the first Open played there in nearly 70 years.

Creators from the U.S., Italy, the U.K., and South Korea joined ambassadors like Justin Rose, Ian Poulter, Annika Sörenstam, and Tom Watson to produce original content from inside the ropes.

But one piece of storytelling traveled further than the rest.

“Arnie Would.”

A tribute to Arnold Palmer asked a simple question.

What would Arnie do?

Across social media, fans answered with stories of the way Palmer treated people—with humility, generosity, and respect.

For many viewers, it didn’t feel like advertising.

It felt like golf remembering one of its heroes.
